Is pre-K included?

There is no Pre-K mentioned in the Regional Agreement. However, there is an Early Education CTE (Career and Technical Education) program at the High School which is totally funded by enrollment fees.

Each elementary school has a Pre-K program, which is paid for by its enrollment fees, but there are some SPED Pre-K costs incurred at each elementary school. These are included in each town’s elementary school budget. In the FY23 budget the Pre-K cost for Palmer River elementary was $56,686 and Dighton elementary was $170,404. The Regional District combines all District school budgets (Rehoboth, Dighton, and the High School) for a total operational budget. Therefore, the total District Pre-K SPED amount for PR and DES would be $227,090 ($56,686 + $170,404). Using the current District calculation method, Rehoboth would then pay approximately 65% of that total, or $147,609 instead of $56,686—a difference of $90,923.

This is one example of how we might save if we withdraw.
