Gertrude (Lemieux) Messier to be presented the Boston Post Cane

All are welcome to come and celebrate the tradition of awarding the Massachusetts Boston Post Cane in a ceremony to be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021.  The ceremony will honor Gertrude (Lemieux) Messier – “Gert” (99 years young) and will take place at the Rehoboth Veterans Memorial Gazebo – Redway Plain – 401 Winthrop Street (Corner of Route 44 and Bay State Road) beginning at 3:30 PM.

 

The tradition of the Boston Post Cane dates back to August 2, 1909 and honors the oldest citizen living in Rehoboth.

 

It is requested of those attending the ceremony to bring a chair or blanket, observe social distancing protocols and wear a face covering when in close contact with others.
