Would new contracts for our K-8 teachers and staff have to be negotiated with the new school committee?

The short answer is yes.

The new School Committee would now address all bargaining issues with the teachers and staff. A new school employee bargaining unit would have to be formed.

The new District which would be created for our K-8 would be a department of the Town of Rehoboth. With that the Town would assume additional duties and responsibilities. For instance, the Town Administrator and the Board of Selectman would now be responsible for payroll and certain human resource functions such as health insurance as they do now for other Town employees.
