Do SPED teams follow the student into the High School and how would we address that?

Transitioning from K-8 to the High School can be just as smooth as it is now. The student’s IEP ( individual education plan) identifies which services and accommodations are needed , and the High School staff will implement them. To ease any family’s and/or student’s anxieties about the transition, there is a representative from the High School who will participate in the student’s meetings in grade 8. Also, guidance counselors will offer support while the student is still in middle school. If someone needs extra time, that will be coordinated. The SPED staff also schedules Open House days and even provides individual tours for students who may have a specific need.
